Big blast in south Afghan border town

CHAMAN, Pakistan (Reuters) - A big blast was heard on Thursday in the southern Afghan town of Spin Boldak, on the border with Pakistan, but the cause was not known, residents on the Pakistani side of the border said.

The border crossing between the Pakistani town of Chaman and Spin Boldak is the second most important crossing on the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Residents of Chaman could see smoke rising over the Afghan town after the blast.
