Shares of State Street, peers, tumble after market open



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of State Street plummeted on Tuesday after the company reported an increase in unrealized losses.

    The stock plunged 50 percent to $18.06. Among its peers, Northern Trust slid 14 percent to $43.94 and Bank of New York Mellon shed 29 percent to $16.23 in composite trade.
