Medialive Signs Major Contract in Japan

Medialive, a leading digital content protection company announced
today a strategic contract in Japan with the company Primeworks.

Primeworks is a leading technology and service integrator for
mobile services in Japan, with a key focus on development, production
    and aggregation of content.

The expertise of Primeworks combined with the innovative content
protection technology of Medialive has resulted in a unique solution
for content distribution designed for operators and content providers.
Simple to deploy and completely transparent for the end-user, this
offer provides a new way of distributing multi-media content on all
types of terminals including super distribution.

"The Japanese market, one of the most dynamic and innovative in
terms of mobile services, represents a strategic target for Medialive"
comments Didier Lesteven, CEO of Medialive. "Mobile services are
widely deployed in Japan but the problem of protection of rights is
still unsolved and should become an even bigger issue with the
development of 3G and video for mobile phones. For legal reasons, both
operators and content providers are being forced to integrate this
type of technology into their offers".

Primeworks and Medialive have also been working together with the
professional music industry to obtain specific sound filtering effects
for the protection of musical content. With this, the teasing
functionalities offered by the Medialive solution can be put to use
and thus allow the potential customer to listen and to recognise the
piece of protected music, despite distortions, and to purchase it if
    desired.

The combined Medialive and Primeworks solution is compatible with
the following operating systems : Doja, Brew, JSCL/VFX and will allow
the major Japanese operators such as NTT Docomo, KDDI, Vodafone KK to
offer innovating mobile services to their customers.

The hardware platforms supporting this product include: NEC,
Sanyo, Sony Ericsson, Casio, Hitachi, Kyocera...

"The Asiapac zone and more specifically Japan, is one of the key
areas in the world where digital piracy is rife" comments Masashi
Ikeda President and CEO from Primeworks. "As an integrator of mobile
services, we are strongly implicated in the security chain for
multimedia content and are aware of the value add of a solution such
as Medialive. We were attracted by the innovative technology which
focuses on content usage control and the fact that as it is not based
on encryption, it is practically impossible to hack. This is also
perfect for mobile phones where memory and power supply are limited."
