Wal-Mart September same-store sales up 2.4 percent
Analysts, on average, were expecting the company's same-store sales to rise 2.5 percent, according to Thomson Reuters Estimates, while the company had forecast a gain of 2 to 3 percent.
The world's biggest retailer also maintained its third-quarter earnings forecast, which calls for earnings per share from continuing operations of 73 cents and 76 cents.
