AEG Power Solutions to Exhibit at Railtex 2015

AEG Power Solutions (AEG PS) (FWB:3W9K), a global provider of power electronic systems and solutions for industrial power supplies and renewable energy applications, today announced that it will be exhibiting at the Railtex exhibition in Birmingham, UK from 12th to 14th May.

At Stand U11, AEG PS will be showing its comprehensive range of railway solutions, including robust and rugged power supply systems, for a wide variety of on-track, wayside and rail infrastructure applications. Ensuring optimal up time, maximum return on investment and reduced lifetime costs AEG PS presents a comprehensive range of world-class AC and DC UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) rectifiers and chargers to help secure the complete railway environment. Customers in the rail industry include major players such as Network Rail, Crossrail in the UK, Bombardier Transportation, BOGESTRA in Germany, SNCF in France and Alstom worldwide.

In the UK, AEG PS was awarded by Crossrail Ltd the frame contract to supply and install all the UPS systems for the Crossrail Project in London. “This prestigious contract will complete its rollout in 2017, and will be followed by many years of service support during the systems 20+ year operational life.” explains Kevin Marriott, Managing Director UK, AEG PS.

Crossrail is currently Europe’s largest rail infrastructure project under construction and will be operational in 2018.

For Bombardier, AEG PS is supplying on-board battery chargers, inverters and DC/DC converters for up to 450 electric locomotives ordered by Deutsche Bahn. AEG PS developed a new customised solution specifically for Bombardier, based around its existing battery chargers, inverters and DC/DC converters. One solution includes three modules each providing 20A, with redundancy and in-built battery management, guaranteeing continued operation even after an internal failure.

AEG PS has supplied UPS systems to German transport operator BOGESTRA for more than 25 years. In the most recent order, BOGESTRA selected AEG PS Protect 8.31 systems to replace its previous UPS on the U35 light railway, due to their robustness, reliability and long lifetime. The new UPS systems protect the electrical power supply at the stations themselves, the control rooms, and the tunnel lighting.

Railtex runs from the 12th to 14th May 2015 at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham. It is the UK´s leading rail event covering railway equipment, systems and services. The show is held every two years, with the most recent event attracting more than 8,000 visitors.
