´Science to Market´: a New Forum for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
16th International Trade Fair, Conferences, Partnering and Award for Biotechnology
BIOTECHNICA 2008 has a new forum for pharmaceutical biotechnology. For the first time, the European Association of Pharma Biotechnology (EAPB) -in cooperation with the science congress European BioPerspectives - will be hosting the conference "Science to Market". The aim of this European event is to promote partnerships between science and industry in the field of pharmaceutical biotechnology in order to drive forward the ongoing development of marketable technologies and biopharmaceutical products.
The two–day conference will focus on developments relating to new biopharmaceutical drugs and diagnostic methods and on innovative technologies used in the development and manufacture of biopharmaceutical products. Subjects under discussion will include second–generation biopharmaceuticals, new vaccines, advances in gene therapy, drug formats and methods for improving the manufacture and analysis of today´s biopharmaceuticals.
The program will be rounded off by distinguished keynote speakers: Andreas Plückthun, University of Zurich, will report on "Rational protein design "“ In vitro evolution of antibody therapeutics", Stephen Minger, King´s College London, will discuss the "Therapeutic and research potential of human stem cells", and Christopher Baum, Hannover Medical School, will speak about "Gene therapy "“ from basic science to clinical application".
Further information about the event can be found on the Internet at www.eapb.org.
What is BIOTECHNICA?
BIOTECHNICA in Hannover is the leading event within the European biotech industry. It embraces every segment of biotechnology- from basic biotechnology and equipment, bio–informatics and services to the five major areas of application: pharmaceuticals/medicine, industry, food, agriculture, the chemical industry and the environment. BIOTECHNICA has been organized by Deutsche Messe AG at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds since 1985. Today, BIOTECHNICA events- BIOTECH CHINA in Asia and BIOTECHNICA AMERICA in the USA -are also held across the globe.
