2013: The Real Estate Industry Focuses on Hamburg

The Hamburg Metropolitan Region presents itself from 12-14 March, 2013 at MIPIM, the world´s biggest property show at Cannes, as a liveable waterfront metropolis and a solid real estate market. Hamburg also will acquaint industry visitors with two events: the International Building Exhibition IBA Hamburg and the international garden show (igs 2013).

With the International Building Exhibition IBA Hamburg provides contributions to current questions of urban development and quality of life, while also the international garden show (igs 2013) will take place in Hamburg. Both large events will link the Elbe islands of Wilhelmsburg and Veddel and Harburg´s inner port to HafenCity and Hamburg´s city centre. IBA Hamburg presents innovative residential construction with model character at the Hamburg stand. Showcasing more than 60 building, social and cultural projects and programmes, IBA Hamburg reveals how a large city could continue to grow in the 21st century, well balanced both ecologically and socially.

"Our city is open to innovative approaches in urban development. And Hamburg knows that ambitious climate protection targets can be achieved by implementing new technologies to make the consumption of resources more efficient while increasing the quality of life of the city. We create perspectives in Hamburg "´ for citizens as well as for national and international investors", says Hamburg´s First Mayor Olaf Scholz. The mayor continues: "MIPIM is one of the most important market places. At the banks of the Alster and Elbe rivers, the economic signals are set for growth. This fact particularly applies to the real estate industry."

A major highlight of Hamburg´s trade fair participation will be an event with Günther H. Oettinger, EU Commissioner for energy with focus on emerging topics of urban development: The question "Best practice in energy policy "´ is Germany leading the field?" will be discussed by Mr. Oettinger, Joe Montgomery (CEO of ULI Urban Land Institutes Europe) and Dr. Andreas Mattner (president of ZIA "´ Central Real Estate Committee).

This year 24 partners display projects and innovative services at the joint Hamburg booth, which is organised by HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation. Many partners, like Deutsche Immobilien AG, Dr. Helmut Greve Bau- und Boden AG, Grossmann & Berger GmbH, Hamburger Sparkasse AG, Procom Invest GmbH & Co. KG, Quantum Immobilien AG, Wölbern Invest KG and Europa-Center AG, are first-time exhibitors.
