Wall Street jumps on earnings optimism


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose 1 percent at the open on Tuesday after better-than-expected results from Alcoa Inc and CSX Corp late Monday gave a promising start to the earnings season.

    The Dow Jones industrial average added 97.02 points, or 0.95 percent, to 10,313.29. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 10.39 points, or 0.96 percent, to 1,089.14. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 21.20 points, or 0.96 percent, to 2,219.56.
