Norway to shut part of airspace due volcanic ash

OSLO (Reuters) - Norway's airport authority Avinor will later on Friday shut the airspace in the northern part of the country due to risk stemming from rising concentrations of ash from an Icelandic volcano.

""From 2 p.m. (1 p.m. British time)... the airspace over these regions will be closed for ordinary air traffic," Avinor said in a statement. The closures would mainly affect Arctic areas of Norway.

The main airlines flying to Northern Norway are SAS and Norwegian Air Shuttle.
