Senate rejects wrapping up debate on Wall Street bill


    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrats in the Senate failed to muster enough votes to wrap up debate on a sweeping overhaul of U.S. financial regulations -- a surprise setback to one of President Barack Obama's top domestic priorities.

    Two Democrats joined 39 Republicans to deny the Democrats the 60 votes they needed in the 100-seat chamber to wrap up debate on the bill and move toward final passage.

    But the setback may not be permanent, as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid can schedule another vote if he rounds up the needed support.
