Wanted: Innovative Business Ideas! Popkomm IMEA Enters Fourth Round

They are young, they are creative. They have earned attention:
young companies. For the fourth time the Popkomm is inviting entries
for the Innovation in Music and Entertainment Award (IMEA). Companies
and projects can apply online until 15th July at
    www.popkommawards.com.

Developing fresh ideas for marketing in the music and
entertainment branch - the 7th May is the start of the Popkomm IMEA
2007. With this call for invitations the international music
marketplace in Berlin is addressing projects and companies bringing
new impulses to the music business through the creative use of new
technology and media. ,,Innovation and creativity play an important
role at the Popkomm on both artistic and business levels. With the
Popkomm IMEA we want to shine the spotlights on those with creative
business ideas to form and strengthen the future of the music
business, ensuring artist and fans continue finding each other and
fair payment for creative ideas flows", Popkomm Director, Katja
Bittner, explains the motivation behind the award.

Just for the best: the next round

Once again the award boasts prominent jury. International branch
specialists, journalists, market researchers and venture capital
companies will select the eight best entries for the next round. On
the afternoon of 19th September, the chosen finalists will compete
against each other. They will present their business ideas at the
Popkomm 2007 IMEA Finalist Screening Session where the jury make their
decision that will be officially announced that evening. Up for grabs
is, among others, a stand at Popkomm 2008.

    Awarded ideas in focus

Especially attractive for the finalists is the opportunity to
present their ideas to a renowned specialist audience, to get feedback
and make contacts - and of course the interest of the international
media that attend Popkomm every year. In 2006 the awards went to
Briton Pascal Grierson of UBC Media for his project DABradio - DMD
Digital Music Distribution and the company Royalty Share. The firm
offers an online platform simplifying the complex royalties from
digital music distribution for artists and publishers. Bob Kohn,
president and director of Royalty Share: ,,We're honoured to have
received such a distinctive award that underscores our commitment to
innovation in everything we do for our customers."

Popkomm - plug in to success

The 19th Popkomm takes place from 19 to 21 September in Berlin. As

Its integrated event concept is unique, Popkomm being the only
industry meeting place worldwide to have a trade fair, congress and

representing the core activities of the music business. It also
attracts the concert industry, the film world, mobile entertainment
and consumer electronics to the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. This is the
fourth time that Popkomm will be taking place in the German capital.
