Opsware Expands European Management Team as Demand for Data Center Automation Increases in Region
As a sign of its increasing presence in the European market,
Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ: OPSW), the leading provider of Data Center
Automation software, today announced it has appointed Colin Rowland as
senior vice president for its Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
Rowland, who will report directly to Mark Cranney, executive vice
president for field operations at Opsware, will oversee Opsware's
sales and business development for the region and help position the
company to meet the increasing demand in Europe for its
industry-leading Data Center Automation software.
"Colin is the ideal leader to take the helm for our fast-growing
business in EMEA. His broad experience demonstrates excellent
leadership all the way from the startup level to Fortune 50 giants,"
Cranney said. "Colin has a history of building first-class sales
organizations that deliver strong results. His track record shows an
absolute commitment to providing genuine solutions to customers'
business problems, and I know he will carry that commitment forward to
meet the needs of Opsware clients."
"I'm thrilled to have joined the fastest-growing company in Data
Center Automation and to have the opportunity to build on that
leadership in Europe," Rowland said. "Opsware's software uniquely
integrates change management, compliance, and process automation all
in one, working across servers, networks and, later this year,
storage. The need for this approach to automating the whole data
center is especially keen in Europe, where the software is used to
automate and enforce compliance with the Information Technology
Infrastructure Library (ITIL) standards that so many IT organizations
in Europe are adopting. Opsware has the only solution capable of
automating end-to-end ITIL processes, making it the ideal choice for
European IT organizations."
Prior to joining Opsware, Rowland held senior management positions
at HP, Rainfinity, Mercury Interactive and, most recently, Tideway
Systems. As vice president of sales at Tideway, he revamped the
company's sales organization and infused the company with a strong
sales culture. As vice president of sales for EMEA at Mercury, he was
responsible for building the sales, professional services and support
functions and oversaw the channels and alliances business, sales
operations and Inside sales. He also played a key role in Mercury's
acquisition of Kintana. At Rainfinity, Rowland launched the company's
EMEA sales efforts and developed the region's sales and R&D functions.
During his eleven years at HP, he held a wide range of sales
management roles, culminating in his position as UK software sales
director, in which he grew the company's UK business by more than 300
percent in three years.
