World Class - London Book Fair 2007
Now in its 37th year, The London Book Fair is firmly established
as one of the premier events in the international publishing calendar.
Last year, the annual 3-day event brought together an international
audience of over 23,000 publishing professionals, authors, editors and
agents from 115 countries.
London Book Fair 2007 is already shaping up to be a success with
increased international exhibitors and pavilions. Last year 42% of
visitors came from overseas, with attendance rising particularly
steeply from Eastern European countries. This year's Fair is set to
see a significant increase in international presence, with a 9%
increase in international space sold. There will be new international
pavilions from Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Cataluna and Castilla y
Leon. Thailand, Austria, Canada and India have all significantly
increased the size of their stands.
As ever, the Fair is not just about the business of publishing but
is also an important networking event. Alongside the huge number of
launches and parties taking place, a full detailed seminar programme
will once again be open to all. This year the international focus of
the event will be stronger than ever and in addition to a range of
Market Focus seminars addressing Spanish publishing related issues,
the British Council will again contribute to several features
including a series of Wicked Issue sessions focusing on Arabic
Literature.
For the second year running, the Fair will feature the Author of
the Day initiative which will showcase a different writer on each day
of the Fair. For 2007 best selling authors Enrique de Heriz, Mark
Haddon and Marina Lewycka will be featured. Attendance by further
international authors will be announced shortly with bestseller Paulo
Coelho already confirmed for the 16th April.
With publishers, agents and booksellers announcing the hottest
industry news and more titles and authors being showcased then ever
before, the London Book Fair 2007 is the place to get your news this
Spring.
