Award-Winning Diskeeper Software Adopted by ATLAS Consortium in Support of Defence Information Infrastructure
Diskeeper Corporation's multi-award-winning defragmentation
software Diskeeper(R) has been chosen as part of the EDS led ATLAS
Consortium's package for the Defence Information Infrastructure
'Future' project. This ten year defence procurement programme is aimed
at developing, implementing, managing and delivering a wide range of
services to the Ministry of Defence and its personnel. DII will be
providing at least 150,000 terminals to approximately 300,000 users.
Over the last few years Diskeeper Corporation Europe has worked
closely with EDS, and is proud to announce Diskeeper's inclusion in
the DII build as the solution to the fragmentation issue.
So what is fragmentation? Furthermore, why is defragmentation so
imperative to maintaining a sound and efficient computer network
system? Fragmentation can be defined as whole files that are broken up
into numerous pieces and scattered to various locations on the hard
drive. Fragmentation also occurs through the removal of contiguous
free space across the hard drive. Although unknown to some,
fragmentation occurs in our systems every time we use them, gradually
slowing them down and sometimes even causing them to freeze
completely.
This is where Diskeeper's latest revolutionary software technology
comes into play, by using a new automatic background processing
technology called InvisiTasking(TM). This unique feature makes
Diskeeper the only defragmenter that can truly deliver transparent
operations. System Administrators simply install the software and let
it defragment their networks. Diskeeper 2007 detects fragmentation the
instant it appears and eradicates it on the spot. With the latest
version of our defragmentation software, Diskeeper 2007, there are no
overheads and files are put back together without the user even
noticing. The only evidence will be the increase in efficiency of the
computer.
The development and release of Diskeeper 2007 with its
revolutionary InvisiTasking technology is further strengthening
Diskeeper Corporation's position as the world's Number One Automatic
Defragmenter(TM). Thomas Doria, VP Sales, Diskeeper Corporation Europe
commented: "We are happy that Diskeeper was included in the DII build
and look forward to Diskeeper being of assistance to them in the
future.'"

About The ATLAS Consortium
The ATLAS Consortium is responsible for delivering the Defence
Information Infrastructure (Future) project for the UK Ministry of
Defence. ATLAS is led by EDS, with Fujitsu Services as a Tier 1
partner, General Dynamics, LogicaCMG and EADS Defence and Security
Systems Ltd (Cogent) as tier 2 partners and IBM and HP as exclusive
capability partners. ATLAS was awarded the contract for increment 1 of
DII (F) in March 2005, with a budget of approximately US$4.0 billion
(GBP 2.3 billion).
The DII single information infrastructure will eventually provide
IT services for about 300,000 users on around 150,000 terminals across
approximately 2,000 MOD sites worldwide. It will mean that people have
an IT infrastructure that supports collaborative working, provides
faster and more secure communications and enables teams to store and
retrieve information at anytime, anywhere.
