25 Years In The Life Of Ellen DeGeneres
Everyone seems to want to say yes to DeGeneres — this week alone yielded two giant, silly viral moments out of her talk show (starring Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban).
But don't be fooled — DeGeneres may be all light and fun, but it's tireless work and ambition that's gotten her here.
By "here," we mean: making an estimated $45 million a year.
1986: DeGeneres got her start in standup. This is her first of six appearances on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
1989: DeGeneres scored a part on the short-lived sitcom "Open House" -- which, despite having a lead-in from "Married With Children," was a ratings flop.
1992: Then came another flash-in-the-pan -- ABC's "Laurie Hill," in which DeGeneres played a nurse.
