Wall Street up on solid results, data


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose on Tuesday as corporate earnings and a solid jump in manufacturing data fueled investors' optimism.

    The Dow Jones industrial average rose 74.75 points, or 0.74 percent, to 10,173.89. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 8.88 points, or 0.83 percent, to 1,084.39. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 15.83 points, or 0.72 percent, at 2,199.36.
