Wall Street rises as market digests Bernanke speech



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks turned course to move higher on Friday as the market digested a key speech from U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

    After initially paring gains following the speech that the market took as not explicitly signaling any imminent monetary easing, major U.S. stock indexes turned up sharply.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 108.25 points, or 0.83 percent, at 13,108.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 8.62 points, or 0.62 percent, at 1,408.10. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 14.22 points, or 0.47 percent, at 3,062.93.
