Dow Jones industrial average extends gains, rises 1 percent

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened higher on Tuesday, helped by a drop in borrowing costs for Spain, which helped eased concerns about the European debt crisis.

Some corporate results that topped expectations, including from Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Coca-Co Co. , added to the positive tone.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 94.19 points, or 0.73 percent, at 13,015.60. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 8.14 points, or 0.59 percent, at 1,377.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 13.90 points, or 0.47 percent, at 3,002.30.
