Futures hold gains after jobless claims


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock index futures held sharp gains on Thursday even as data showed weekly applications for unemployment insurance unexpectedly edged up in the latest week.

    S&P 500 futures rose 9.9 points and were above fair value, a formula that evaluates pricing by taking into account interest rates, dividends and time to expiration of the contract. Dow Jones industrial average futures added 74 points and Nasdaq 100 futures rose 16.75 points.
