Wall Street falters as housing data weighs



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks lost ground on Monday after data showed homebuilder sentiment fell more than expected, offsetting an earlier advance helped by gains in Halliburton and Boeing .

    The Dow Jones home construction index lost 1.3 percent. Financial shares led the way down on the S&P 500, with the sector falling 1 percent.

    The Dow Jones industrial average dipped 3.11 points, or 0.03 percent, to 10,094.79. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was off 1.06 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,063.82. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 0.81 points, or 0.04 percent, to 2,179.86.
