Nasdaq rises more than 2 percent


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq rose more than 2 percent as the market extended gains on Wednesday, helped by bargain hunting and strong home sales data.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 113.36 points, or 1.13 percent, at 10,157.11. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 14.36 points, or 1.34 percent, at 1,088.39. The Nasdaq Composite Index jumped 41.59 points, or 1.88 percent, at 2,252.54, after rising more than 2 percent.
