Mexico City, Jan 12 (EFE).- Three people were killed and two others wounded in Xochipala, a community in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, state security officials said.

An anonymous call to the emergency services telephone number alerted state police to the presence of a man with a gunshot wound, the Guerrero Public Safety Secretariat said.

State police officers and paramedics went to Xochipala, a community outside the city Eduardo Neri, where they found three dead bodies and two wounded people.

Officers found the body of a 24-year-old man inside a house on San Nicolas street, the secretariat said.

A 22-year-old man and a teenager wounded by gunfire were discovered on Altamirano street and transported to a hospital in Chilpancingo, the state capital, under police guard.

Officers on patrol in the area later found the bodies of a man in his mid-20s and another teenager, the secretariat said.

Shots were heard on Sunday around Altamirano street in the Barrio de San Nicolas district, but the identity of the gunmen has not been determined, Xochipala police chief Jaime Bello Carreto said.
