MOSCOW (Reuters) - Rescue workers found seven bodies on Friday in the smouldering rubble of a civilian cargo ship in Russia's Kaliningrad region, a navy spokesman said.

Ten workers had been missing following an explosion andfire on the ship, the Yenisei, in dry dock at a naval shiprepair factory in Kaliningrad, a tiny enclave borderingLithuania, Poland and the Baltic Sea.

"Ten were missing, seven found. The excavation is stillongoing and we expect to find the rest shortly," Captain IgorDygalo said by telephone.

The ship is civilian-owned but the navy has sent itscommanding admiral to head an investigation into the incidentas the factory is owned by the Russian military.

Dygalo said it was too early to determine the cause of theaccident. Local media suggest it was an explosion in a fueltank caused by welding equipment.
