Nine dead in Pakistan blast after election rally

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Nine people were killed in northwest Pakistan on Saturday in a blast near the office of an election candidate supported by assassinated opposition leader Benazir Bhutto's party, Dawn Television said.

A resident in the town of Parachinar, in the Kurram regionon the Afghan border, said the explosion occurred as thecandidate's supporters were going into his office following anelection rally. He said he saw limbs scattered on the ground.

Dawn Television reported that nine people had been killedin the blast.
