Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced today that it was awarded
a contract to provide engineering, procurement and construction
management services to build utilities and off-sites for the Grupa
LOTOS Comprehensive Technical Upgrade Program in Gdansk, Poland. The
project will be executed by Fluor's Gilwice, Poland, office.
The contract value for Fluor is more than EUR 200 million (US
$275.3 million) and was booked during second quarter 2007. Grupa LOTOS
is Poland's second-largest oil refiner and retailer.
"This project enables Grupa LOTOS to comply with the EU
requirements concerning the quality of diesel oils, which will be in
force as of 2009," said David Seaton, Fluor Energy & Chemicals group
president. "Fluor is perfectly positioned to deliver these services to
Grupa LOTOS and all of our clients. With this project Fluor Gilwice
will expand its reputation for providing quality engineering,
procurement and construction management work."
The scope of facilities covers the new tank farm,
interconnections, LPG washing unit, revamping of LOTOS high voltage
power distribution system, infrastructure, revamping of water systems
and other outside battery limits units.
Initial project work has begun and construction is slated to begin
in February 2008 with a February 2010 completion. The budget exceeds
half million man-hours. Engineering and procurement services will be
performed by Fluor offices in Gliwice and Haarlem, The Netherlands.
From 1995-'98 Fluor Gliwice and Haarlem performed a similar job for
Grupa LOTOS.
The contract is under execution as part of the development
strategy of Grupa Kapitalowa LOTOS S.A. which provides for the
construction of utilities and off-sites under the Comprehensive
Technical Upgrade Program. The program objective is to increase the
throughput capacity of the Gdansk refinery by approximately 75
percent, to 10.5 million tons of crude oil annually, with a higher
conversion ratio.
