Markets open higher on Chinese manufacturing



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose in early trading on Friday as a pick up in Chinese manufacturing eased concerns about the state of the global economy.

    Investors also are looking ahead to U.S. manufacturing data later in the day.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 70.31 points, or 0.65 percent, at 10,858.36. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 8.48 points, or 0.74 percent, at 1,149.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 17.56 points, or 0.74 percent, at 2,386.18.
