Konrad Hurni appointed new CFO of Esmertec

Esmertec(TM) (SWX:ESMN), a focused provider of software and
services to communications device manufacturers and mobile telecom
operators, today announced that its CFO Deborah Choate is leaving the
Company. After having strongly contributed to Esmertec's turnaround
and achieving the extension of the repayment of the convertible bonds,
Deborah Choate plans to pursue new professional opportunities nearer
her home in France.

Esmertec has appointed Dr. Konrad Hurni, (currently Member of the
Board of Directors responsible for finance and compliance of WW
Capital Partners, Zurich) as the company's new CFO as of April 16,
2007. Konrad Hurni, Swiss national, brings extensive knowledge in
finance management. In his new position, Konrad Hurni will be a member
of the senior management team and will report to Esmertec's CEO
Jean-Claude Martinez. Thanks to his support as external consultant for
the Company for the past several weeks, Konrad Hurni has already
gained extensive insight into and understanding of Esmertec's
businesses.
