Analyst Report Names Opsware Leader in Worldwide Network Change and Configuration Management Market
In a research report released this week, analyst firm IDC
identified Opsware Inc. (NASDAQ:OPSW) as the market share leader and
the fastest growing vendor in the worldwide network change and
configuration management (NCCM) market for the period 2005-2006.
Opsware took the top spot with 31.4 percent of market share in 2006,
more than 10 share points ahead of the closest competitor, according
to IDC's Worldwide Network Change and Configuration Management
2007-2011 Forecast and Analysis (1). In addition, Opsware's 612.5
percent revenue increase in this market was more than 12 times the
rate of the next fastest grower among the top five vendors who make up
more than 85 percent of the market.
According to IDC, network change and configuration management is
an increasingly important market solution. The increasing size and
complexity of networks are driving rapid growth and broad market
demand for network change and configuration products.
"The growth and complexity of network infrastructures is forcing
IT departments to move away from manual methods of configuration and
seek standardized solutions to automate and perform network discovery,
change and configuration tasks," according to Tracy Corbo, senior
analyst for IDC's Network and Service Management research practice.
"As the size and complexity of the enterprise network grows, IDC
believes that the enterprise demand for NCCM products will continue to
grow."
"The latest analysis from IDC shows that Opsware is by far both
the market share leader and the fastest growing provider of network
change and configuration management software," said Ben Horowitz,
president and CEO of Opsware Inc. "This is a clear indication of the
tremendous ROI that customers are receiving from implementing
Opsware's Network Automation System."
Used by IT organizations worldwide, the award-winning Opsware
Network Automation System enables compliance and enforces operational
best practices by tracking, validating and automating network
infrastructure changes across globally distributed, multi-vendor
networks. The system automates all aspects of compliance management
and reporting, including inventory management, audit tracking,

completely automating time consuming maintenance tasks, such as
firmware updates, the system gives network operations more time to
