Wall Street opens flat as data offsets earnings



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened little changed on Friday as upbeat housing data for June counteracted worry over the quality of corporate profits from General Electric Co and Google Inc .

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 1.21 points, or 0.01 percent, at 8,713.03. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 2.81 points, or 0.30 percent, at 937.93. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 4.33 points, or 0.23 percent, at 1,880.70.
