AmericaFree.TV and Christie Books Announce an Internet TV Channel Devoted to Historic Spanish Movies
AmericaFree.TV, a US Internet Television broadcaster, and Christie
Books of the UK announced today the online launch of a TV channel
devoted to historical films from the Spanish Republic. These movies,
from the period before and even during the Spanish Civil War, were
suppressed by the Dictatorship that took power as a result of the
Civil War, and many have not been shown in public since 1939. "It is
appropriate, 70 years after the start of the Civil War, and 67 years
after their suppression, that these films and documentaries made by
the Spanish labour union, the Confederacion Nacional del Trabajo, can
now be viewed by anyone on the Internet," said Stuart Christie, who
was responsible for recovering this archival material. "We are excited
about the launch of EspanaFree.TV, our first Spanish language
channel," said Marshall Eubanks, CEO of AmericaFree.TV, which will
host the broadcasts. "AmericaFree.TV is dedicated to providing quality
content to our global audience, and we are pleased to be able expand
our broadcasts with this material," Eubanks continued.
