About 30 hurt after Northwest flight hits turbulence

TOKYO (Reuters) - About 30 people were injured when a Northwest Airlines flight from Manila to Tokyo hit turbulence on Friday, a fire department official said.

Two people were seriously injured and about 30 slightly injured, the official said. There were no reports of deaths.

The Boeing 747-400 plane was carrying 408 passengers and 14 crew, a transport ministry official said.

Northwest Airlines, which merged last year with Delta Air Lines, was not immediately available for comment.
