Marsh & McLennan quarterly net 6 percent lower



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Marsh & McLennan , one of the world's largest insurance brokers, said on Wednesday net income fell 6 percent in the fourth quarter.

    Net income was $80 million, or 15 cents a share, down from $85 million, or 16 cents per share, a year earlier.

    Adjusted earnings rose 54 percent to 37 cents a share, compared with 24 cents a share in the year-ago quarter.

    Revenue fell 9 percent to $2.7 billion.

    Marsh & McLennan shares were unchanged in trading before the market opened, after closing at $18.71 on Tuesday. The stock is down nearly a third over the past 12 months.
