Wall Street falls on earnings, economic woe



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street fell on Thursday, pressured by a weak earnings season and an increasingly bleak economic outlook after data showed continuing jobless claims rose to the highest level on record.

    Worries that President Barack Obama's $825 billion economic stimulus package could still face a bumpy road also weighed.

    The Dow Jones industrial average lost 98.93 points, or 1.18 percent, at 8,276.52. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 13.17 points, or 1.51 percent, at 860.92. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 23.44 points, or 1.50 percent, at 1,534.90.
