Novatel Wireless MiFi wins 2010 mobile news awards

Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, is pleased to announce that its MiFi(TM) Intelligent Mobile Hotspot has been named the Most Innovative Product (non-Handset) in the 2010 Mobile News Awards.

The MiFi platform represents the industry’s first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, a new category of mobile broadband that lets users put their world of content, services and connectivity in their pocket. Novatel Wireless completes 18Mbps WiMAX call with MiFi intelligent Mobile Hotspot

Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq: NVTL), a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced that it has successfully completed over the air testing of its new MiFi(TM) Intelligent Mobile Hotspot prototype based on 4G-WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access). Novatel’s WiMAX implementation immediately achieved throughput of 18Mbps in over-the-air testing and can support theoretical peak throughput speeds exceeding 30Mbps downlink and 10Mbps uplink in a 10 MHz channel.

El MiFi de Novatel quiere ser más que un router móvil

Parece que los enrutadores de conexión a Internet no se conforman con ser meros canalizadores de datos. El MiFi de Novatel, el router portátil de Novatel que distribuye mediante WiFi la conexión a Internet establecida a través de una red móvil 3G, dispone ahora de una serie de aplicaciones que se ejecutan en modo local sobre el sistema operativo Linux que utiliza internamente. En el Mobile World Congress se han presentado tres de ellas: la primera, para uso profesional, permite crear una red privada virtual (VPN) para aplicaciones empresariales en las que se requiera este nivel de seguridad de acceso. Las otras dos se dirigen al mercado de consumo: una sirve para gestionar el uso de almacenamiento remoto en la ‘nube’, y la otra para compartir fotografías y vídeos desde diversos dispositivos.

Novatel Wireless Introduces ‘How Do You MiFi?’ Contest
