Boingo to Demonstrate Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi Roaming Solution on Select Sony Ericsson Handsets at GSMA Mobile World Congress; Boingo Mobile Still Only $8

GSMA Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain – Feb. 11, 2008 – Boingo Wireless Inc., which provides handsets and laptops with access to the world’s largest network of Wi-Fi hotspots, today announced it will provide Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi connectivity for Sony Ericsson UIQ 3.0 powered handsets with Wi-Fi. Boingo Mobile-enabled devices will include Sony Ericsson’s smartphones, such as the W960i and P1i dual-mode handsets.

Sony Ericsson is the second major handset manufacturer to collaborate with Boingo and integrate its Wi-Fi roaming solution into dual-mode smartphones joining Nokia, which was announced at last year’s 3GSM World Congress. Boingo Mobile also supports Wi-Fi enabled Windows Mobile smartphones and PDAs.

“We chose to work with Boingo given its market-leading Boingo Mobile service. Integrating Wi-Fi roaming capabilities on our dual-mode devices reinforces our commitment to offer customers a wide array of usage options, including the ability to connect via Wi-Fi around the world,” said Ulf Wretling, General Manager, Head of Developer Program and Communications for Sony Ericsson.

“Wi-Fi enabled smartphones have gained significant momentum in the last year, thanks to global handset leaders such as Sony Ericsson,” said Tim Farrell, Vice President of Product and Engineering for Boingo Wireless. “Phone users are looking for high-speed, low-cost connectivity options like Wi-Fi for high bandwidth applications such as VoIP, streaming video and email with large attachments.”

GSMA MWC Demonstrations

At GSMA Mobile World Congress, Boingo will demonstrate Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi roaming on Sony Ericsson’s W960i and P1i phones, as well as supported devices from other manufacturers. These Sony Ericsson phones are powered by Symbian 9.1 OS with UIQ 3.0 user interface.

Global Roaming for Only $8

With Boingo Mobile, Sony Ericsson users will have the ability to automatically connect to Boingo’s network of tens of thousands of hotspots across the globe for only $7.95, €5.95 or £3.95 per month.

With the freedom to choose between cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity, dual-mode handset users can pick the connection that best fits their usage scenario. For one flat monthly rate, Boingo Mobile Wi-Fi is an affordable and fast connectivity option for the high-bandwidth mobile applications that are increasingly being developed and accessed. Boingo Mobile subscribers enjoy unlimited usage with no per-minute or per-megabyte fees, no contracts and no cancellation penalties.
