Israeli company Iway Mobile announces the launch of its COMODO Console at the Mobile World Congress. The COMODO Console is a telecommunications and content system consisting of dozens of services divided up into nine content worlds, specifically developed for the driver’s environment. The COMODO Console is designed to make driving time more enjoyable, save time and money, and deliver services geared to the needs of the driver and passengers.

The COMODO Console is permanently secured to the dashboard, connected up to the car’s electrical and audio system, and replaces the fixed mobile car phone. It includes an advanced Bluetooth hands-free kit, back camera when the reverse gear is engaged, 3-D navigation software and a music player connected up to the car’s audio system. The COMODO Console also features hundreds of web-based services and applications, served up to the driver and passengers, on a 4.3 inch touchscreen.

Each of the COMODO Console’s nine content worlds features approximately 10 applications and services designed in a unique, elegant, simple and clear manner specially adapted for the car environment. The COMODO Console’s content worlds are: the world of information, the world of television, the world of the road, the world of leisure, the world of music, the world of daily content, the world of widgets, the world of the office, and the world of useful content.

The Console provides radar detector and red (dangerous( road alerts, text message alerts about unsafe driving behavior in the car, as well as business and personal information, and much more.”

Iway Mobile put considerable effort and resources into developing a convenient and user-friendly interface that does not compromise driving safety. The interface is based on the notion of just Two Touches Away: any desired service or content can be accessed by just two touches of the touchscreen.

The COMODO Console was designed with stringent attention to driver safety. Its many safety features include: permanent securing of the Console to the car, a large screen display, hands-free kit with speed dial, unique applications such as alerts about red (dangerous) roads, a ‘personal assistant’ (human response) and Distress Button service, and blocking of video content when the vehicle is in motion. In addition, users cannot send or receive text messages and cannot use a browser to surf the Internet, which would be unwieldy.

Cellcom, Israel’s largest mobile phone operator, which participated in the specification, development and testing of the Console, will be the first to market the COMODO Console in Israel. Iway Mobile is also negotiating with mobile phone operators around the world, as well as with car rental and car leasing companies, and organizations with large motor pools.

Technical data
The system is based on the Samsung 530 MHz processor running Microsoft Windows CE5 and boasts 3GB of storage space.

The Display
The COMODO Console features an exclusively designed, deep, high-resolution, 4.3-inch color touchscreen with wide display. The screen is protected by a special scratch-resistant coating that also protects the Console against careless use.

Communications
The COMODO Console is equipped with Bluetooth communication and a convenient interface designed for use with mobile phones within range, via voice channel and data channel.
To use the COMODO Console as a hands-free kit, the mobile phone must be paired to it. To enable the pairing, the Bluetooth function must be activated on the mobile phone.
Mobile modem: Installed in the car’s glove compartment, for a 3.5G broadband Internet connection.

The COMODO Console connects to a permanent power source in the car (the car’s electrical system).
